What is xscreensaver lock window themes FOR LINUX?

XScreenSaver Lock Window Themes

XScreenSaver is a cool tool for Unix that helps keep your monitor safe from burn-in by showing off some neat animations. It also protects your password, which is super important! But let’s be real, the default lock window looks pretty terrible.

Why Upgrade Your Lock Window?

The creator of XScreenSaver has some thoughts on why it doesn't use popular toolkits like GTK and QT for the lock window. And honestly, I get it! But why not add a built-in theme that looks good and keeps us secure at the same time?

Create Your Own Themes!

That’s where these lock window themes come in. This gives you a framework to create better-looking themes! Just a heads up though—only one theme can be active at any given moment, so choose wisely!

Check Out Available Themes

The default theme is in the screenshot above, but there are other themes you can check out on our themes page. If you want to make your own theme, you’ll need some creative skills for the frame and logo. Plus, a little programming know-how will help if you want to tweak the inside part.

Your Creativity Matters!

If you think you've got what it takes to create an awesome theme, feel free to send it my way! I’d love to showcase your work on the themes page.

What's New in This Release:

  • Version 1.1: This version patches XScreenSaver 4.22 and maybe even newer versions. There's just one small fix needed for compatibility with version 4.21.
