What is Xwpe-ALPHA FOR LINUX?

Xwpe

Xwpe is a cool programming environment that has a user interface similar to the classic Borland C and Pascal products. If you're using MS-DOS, you'll feel right at home! You can easily edit, compile, and debug your programs all in one place.

What Happened to Xwpe?

So, here's the deal: the original creator of Xwpe, Fred Kruse, doesn't seem to be active in the online community anymore. That means if you have questions or need help, you might not get much support directly from him.

Xwpe-Alpha Project

The xwpe-alpha project was started as an effort to keep things going with Xwpe. They wanted to handle some development and bug fixes. But since attempts to reach Fred have gone unanswered, it's best to think of xwpe-alpha as unsupported right now. Development has slowed down quite a bit recently.

What's New in This Release?

This latest version comes with a couple of fixes:

  • A problem with compiling on Fedora Core 4 got sorted out.

  • A new .desktop file was added so you can find it easily in your applications menu.
