Keeping a website up and running is not an easy task and requires you to keep an eye on security breaches, connections speed, as well as uptime so visitors constantly have access to it. With this in mind, ALSEDI Pinger was developed as a small utility that automatically pings a target host to make sure it is reachable.
The application is incredibly lightweight and your computer barely feels a thing from running it, thanks to proper optimization, not that it's packed with too many features to use resources. What's more, you don't need to install it on your system, making it possible to keep on a Flash drive and use on any computer you connect it to.
Running it brings up a pretty small grid you easily figure out how it works. It's filled with an abundance of squares that fill up with different colors, depending on the target's status. By default, the grid is difficult to spot on your desktop, but there's the possibility to extend it a bit more.
Unfortunately, it always stay on top of other applications, with no options to disable this. However, it can be brought down to the system tray, but you stop receiving notifications this way. Along with the executable file, there are also two sound samples used to alert you when connection is successful or not.
This enables a certain degree of customization, because you can replace them with your own, as long as the name is the same. The application also lets you pick a custom color for successful attempts, failed ones, grid border and background, and even enable transparency.
In terms of configurations, picking a target is as easy as providing the URL you want to keep under surveillance. What's more, you can use the application to monitor devices connected to your local network by writing down the corresponding IP.
You can run multiple instances of the application, which comes in handy for keeping an eye on more websites and computers at the same time. Each instance obeys its own set of rules, and with little effort put into customization, knowing which is which becomes incredibly easy.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that although it's not the best on the market, coming equipped with a poor set of features, ALSEDI Pinger manages to live up to expectations. This is because multiple instances allow you to better monitor devices and websites, with customization options making it suit your style or making identification easier.
