Description

aMule

aMule is a handy tool for those who still love old-school peer-to-peer file sharing. While most people use BitTorrent to share files like songs, movies, and photos, there are still some users who prefer the classic P2P networks. That's where aMule (which stands for all-platform Mule) steps in! It helps you connect to eD2k and Kademlia networks right from your Mac.

Cross-Platform Compatibility

What's cool about aMule is that it's not just for Mac. It works on many operating systems like OS X, Linux, and Windows, plus over 60 more platforms! This makes it super versatile for anyone wanting to dive into P2P file sharing.

User-Friendly Interface

If you've ever used eMule or any other P2P clients, you'll find aMule's interface pretty familiar. It's designed to be easy to use. You can open the Search tab from the top toolbar to search for files, check out your downloads in the Downloads tab, and even chat with other users through the Messages tab.

Automatic Server Connection

The first time you run aMule, it automatically downloads a list of servers so you can connect without any hassle. You can also add your own eD2k servers and Kademlia nodes if you want!

Powerful Search Functionality

A standout feature of aMule is its Search function. You can perform multiple searches at once and filter results based on what you need. Plus, there's an Extended Parameters panel where you can specify the exact type of files you're looking for.

Detailed Connection Stats & Customization

aMule doesn’t just stop at searching; it provides detailed connection statistics too! You can easily customize settings from the Preferences menu, which also lets you control the app remotely—super convenient!

Lightweight Performance

This app is light on CPU and RAM usage as well. During our tests on an iMac with a dual-core Intel processor, we saw CPU usage peak at around 10%. The RAM load stayed between 50 and 70 MB—pretty efficient!

Final Thoughts on aMule

If you're looking for a fast and simple P2P client to download or upload different types of files over eD2k or Kademlia networks, aMule is definitely worth checking out!
