@home is a super handy app for OS X that helps you manage your energy settings without any fuss. When you're on the go, it’s important to use your battery wisely. But if you're working from home, you’ve got access to an outlet, so things can be a bit more relaxed!
The coolest part about @home is that it automatically changes your energy-saving settings based on which network you're connected to. After you set it up the first time, you don’t have to touch it again. It just works!
Once you launch @home, it adds a tiny menulet right in your status bar. This gives you quick access to its Preferences panel where you can enter the name of your home Wi-Fi network and get familiar with what the app's icon means.
The app's icon will change depending on whether your home settings are active or if your Mac is using energy-saving configurations. This makes it super easy for you to see what's going on at a glance.
Your Mac usually follows the energy-saving rules set in System Preferences. So after a while, the screen saver kicks in and your Mac might even sleep. While you can turn these off, it's smart to keep them on when using battery power.
But here’s where @home shines! If you're at home and connected to Wi-Fi, it will stop your Mac from locking the screen or going into sleep mode.
@home checks which Wi-Fi network you're using. If it's your home network, no need for those annoying energy-saving measures!
This app saves you from having to dive back into System Preferences every time you want to make sure those energy settings aren't messing with what you're doing.
If you're interested in simplifying how you manage power settings while at home, check out @home. It’s all about making life easier!
