Considering the utility is addressed mainly to mechanics experts, the graphic interface will most likely seem overwhelming to novices, due to the numerous menus it includes. However, if needed, beginners can still learn their way around the app especially if they download samples using the dedicated menus.
When it comes to creating new projects within Autodesk Inventor, users can use one of the several templates as the groundwork for creating 2D or 3D objects, assembling 2D or 3D components, designing an annotated document or generating an exploded projection of an assembly.
Users can create sketches of their projects, and enhance them with adjustable lines, circles, arcs, rectangles, slots and splines, as well as polygons, texts and points. Each object can be moved, copied and rotated, trimmed, extended or stretched according to the user’s measurements and necessities.
Once completed, the project can be exported to an image file (such as BMP, TIFF, PNG, GIF or JPEG) or to PDF, to ensure it can be accessed with native Windows apps. One can also save it to DWG or DWF if they plan to continue work within another CAD application.
Autodesk Inventor can help mechanical engineers save time and effort by testing and simulating their designs within a safe CAD environment, before building real products. However, a license will need to be purchased by those who want to use it beyond the evaluation period.
