Barcode Configuration Utility gives you the possibility to design and save custom barcodes. It features symbology options and takes a while to figure out its settings, unless you're experienced with this kind of software.
At startup, you can choose the barcode module type between 1D and 2D barcode reader. Concerning the interface, the tool opts for a normal window with a well-structured layout split into three panes which permit you to configure data, symbology and general settings.
When it comes to barcode information, you can set a prefix and suffix for the barcode reader, enable or disable AIM symbology, as well as specify rules for identifying the barcode, namely the scenario and active status, along with the symbology type.
There are multiple options available, such as Aztec, Codabar, Code 11, 128, 39 or 93/93i, Interleaved 2 of 5, ISBN, ISBT, Matrix, Maxicode, MicroPDF 417, MSI, Plessey, QR, RSS 14, Limited or Expanded, Standard 2 of 5, Telepen, UPC A or E, as well as EAN 8 or 13. Actions can be added for moving, deleting, inserting, replacing, or copying characters.
Each kind of symbology can be customized. For example, when it comes to Codabar, you can opt for a minimum or fixed length mode. As far as general preferences are concerned, it's possible to configure the emulator prefix or suffix, initial connection mode (e.g. user defined, disconnect barcode module), audio, unreadable characters, default hardware information, and so on. Once everything is set, you can save the settings as a configuration file (INI format).
It's equipped with comprehensive options for creating barcode settings and saving them to file, geared toward advanced users. CPU and RAM consumption was minimal. No error dialogs popped up and it didn't hang or crash.
