On top of a properly implemented Skill-Based Matchmaking system that accurately interprets players’ performance and ensures a fair fight on all servers, several other factors contribute to a game’s degree of accessibility. One of them concerns the visibility portion of the user interface, which can be enhanced thanks to programs such as Battlefield HUD Manager.
DICE’s latest installment in the Battlefield franchise has been rough around the edges, due to the introduction of various aesthetics and gameplay elements that deviate from the formula that kept fans engaged throughout the years. However, with all of its flaws, one area in which Battlefield 2042 excels is the accessibility department, granting players a wide range of customizations.
With a dedicated tab within the options’ section, one can reduce the amount of camera movement while running to prevent motion sickness, enable voice feedback when selecting menu items for those suffering from hearing impairments and preview vehicle control bindings for those switching between multiple peripherals during gameplay.
The most overhauled aspect up to this date remains the heads-up display configuration, which not only lets players check the exact IDs of their weapon loadouts, but it can also be modified to appeal to players with lower visual acuity through the extensive color selection for its UI types.
A pivotal feature that it currently lacks is the ability to create custom profiles to avoid altering the shades each time a modification is in order, which is what the Electron app at hand seeks to help with. Upon selecting the desired hue for each component, users can back up and make changes to the configured theme before applying it to the core profile of the game.
Given the sheer amount of work that the developers need to put in the game to bring it to the fan base’s standards in terms of gameplay, it can be difficult to find the resources to update the rest of the game’s aspects. As such, Battlefield HUD Manager succeeds in allowing users to implement color schemes similar to past titles, depending on their preferences or favorite Portal game-modes.
