Bel Red Theme

Getting ready for Christmas is no easy task, especially if you are one of those people who likes to decorate everything in holiday apparel, including their home, their office, the car and even the computer. For the last part however, you can rely on existing solutions, such as Bel Red Theme.

It can only be installed on PCs running Windows 8 or 8.1, and you first need to install Uxtheme to patch the OS and ensure that installing third-party visual styles is possible (whenever you want to restore your computer to its initial state, you simply need to run the installer again and choose the Restore option).

Next, you will need to copy the contents of the Bel Red Theme folder to C:\Windows\Resources\Themes, then access the Personalization window (right-click on the desktop, then choose Personalise) and select the newly-installed theme.

Once you apply Bel Red Theme, your default taskbar and window color gets automatically turned to red, whereas the desktop wallpaper is replaced with a holiday-inspired one - there are two built-in images and you can rotate between them as often as you like.

You will most likely notice that Bel Red Theme also modified the standard look of the Minimize, Maximize and Close buttons on your windows, making them more subtle and discreet.

Another improvement brought by Bel Red Theme is that if you have more than one Explorer window open, the total number will be displayed in the taskbar, so that you can start closing them when you realize that there are too many windows open.

Bel Red Theme is more than a nice visual style for your computer, even though it adorns your PC with red windows and Christmas wallpapers. Although subtle, the tweaks it integrates can help enhance the user experience for everyone, be they computer novices or experts.
