Biomorphs is a lightweight software application whose purpose is to help you visualize and analyze the limitations on genes and development. It can be deployed on all Windows versions out there.
This is a portable program. You can store it on USB flash drives or other portable devices to have it with you all the time. You may run it without administrative privileges. The utility can be opened directly from the storage device on the target PC.
Gaining access to its features requires only opening the executable file because there’s no installation setup included in the process. It does not write entries to your Windows registry and leave other configuration files on the target PC. It actually saves the settings data to the storage device. Getting rid of the utility can be done by deleting the files that you have downloaded from the Internet.
Biomorphs reveals a clutter-free environment where all dedicated parameters are neatly organized. However, there’s no support for a help manual, which means you need to invest some of your time to get an idea about how the application works.
The program offers you the possibility to employ a recursive algorithm in order to create a numerical genotype and represent the whole development into an image. The photo is made up of branching and overlapping lines.
Biomorphs is able to reveal a ‘biormorh’ picture directly in the center of the working environment, displays a set of its offspring (which may differ from the parent by one or multiple mutations), and selects one which is designated as the parent of the next generation.
A few configuration settings are implemented for helping you set up the mutation rate, specify the maximum mutation size, save the current project to a file on your computer so you can import it in the future, configure a drawing scale, adjust the background color, allow variable mutation, as well as tweak variations in terms of segmentation, symmetry, and shapes parameters.
Tests have shown that Biomorphs executes tasks pretty quickly and without errors. It provides very good image output results. However, it eats up CPU and memory resources so the overall performance of the computer may be burdened.
To sum things up, Biomorphs comes packed with several handy features and provides a straightforward approach for helping you explore the potential and limitations of selection acting on genes.
