Description

Bird Journal

Bird Journal is a super handy app that helps both beginners and seasoned bird watchers keep track of all sorts of bird info. Whether you're logging your sightings or just documenting your wildlife experiences, this tool has got you covered. With features like an entries viewer, photo storage, custom graphs, and a sleek layout, it’s easy to get organized!

Getting Started with Bird Journal

When you launch the program, you've got a choice. You can either create your own database—perfect for experienced bird lovers—or use the sample one to get the hang of things. If you decide to start fresh, there’s a wizard to guide you through setting up your journal. You’ll pick what details to log, like sighting counts, conservation data, weather conditions, and even photos!

Entering New Records

If you want to add a new record, you'll need to fill in some important details. Things like the date of your sighting, start and end times, where you were (country and specific location), weather conditions, and any extra notes you might have are all important! Plus, you can specify what type of conservation area it was (like stationary or travel), along with the local or scientific name of the species.

Generating Charts & Maps

Once you've logged enough entries, it’s time for some cool charts! You can create graphs based on different criteria such as yearly counts or location distribution. The "Maps" feature lets you view and filter your recorded locations using a map that looks like Google Maps. It makes tracking where you've been really simple!

Photo Uploads & Data Management

Your entries can also include photos (think JPEGs or PNGs) from those rare bird sightings! Plus, if you're into data management, you can import files from CSV or XLS formats and export your current database to eBird or Bird Journal types. Don’t forget about backup options—keeping everything safe is key!

Your Go-To Tool for Bird Watching

All in all, Bird Journal is an awesome tool for anyone wanting to track every bird species they encounter on their adventures. It's user-friendly and perfect for managing not just sightings but also photos and locations.
