Bluetooth Screen Lock is a handy tool for keeping your Mac secure. Leaving your desktop open can be risky. You might accidentally mess up important projects or expose sensitive info to anyone nearby.
This app takes the hassle out of locking your screen every time you step away. It connects to any Bluetooth device you usually carry, like your phone or smartwatch. If it detects that you're out of range, it automatically locks your screen.
The magic happens when you pair your Bluetooth device with your Mac. Just go into the Bluetooth Screen Lock Preferences window and select the device you want to use. After that, close the Preferences and restart the app to get everything running smoothly.
You can see the signal strength on the app's interface and adjust how sensitive it is using a simple slider. Plus, if you're worried about getting locked out too often, there’s an option to set a delay period!
If you don’t have a Bluetooth device handy, no worries! You can lock your screen using a hotkey (just hit Option + Command + L) or from the status bar menu. Just remember to activate it when you're stepping away!
When locked, you'll see a grey screen on your Mac. To get back in, just click on your user account and type in your password. Keep in mind that Bluetooth Screen Lock won’t unlock automatically when you come back into range; you'll need to do that manually.
The status bar menu is minimalist and straightforward—it doesn’t force you to keep a Bluetooth device connected all the time (which can drain battery life). If you're looking for something better than what’s built into macOS for locking screens, this app could be just what you need!
