Booksearch

Booksearch is a super easy-to-use software that helps you find books without any hassle. It gives you a desktop client and connects to several book search services like Amazon, BAM!, BookFinder, and Powell's. Even if you're not tech-savvy, you'll find the app's options pretty straightforward!

User-Friendly Installation

Installing this tool is a breeze! You won’t run into any tricky problems since it only uses familiar options. The interface of Booksearch is simple, featuring a small window that shows all the available options clearly.

How to Search for Books

You can search for books by keywords, titles, or authors. Plus, you can pick which online services to check out and choose how you'd like the results displayed. By default, the app opens up an Internet Explorer window for each service—up to 10 at once! But if you prefer, you can set it up to show all your results in one IE window by arranging them in rows or columns while checking up to four services at a time.

Supported Online Services

The websites you can use include AbeBooks, OnlineBooks, Books-A-Million, Powell's, Amazon, BookFinder, Barnes & Noble, and ZVAB.com. Just keep in mind that some old sites like Borders.com and Collins Books are no longer available.

Additional Features

This tool has handy buttons for selecting or deselecting all websites at once and even lets you keep the frame on top of other windows. You can also open an offline HTML page that contains a glossary with book conditions and sizes along with common abbreviations!

Performance Review

When we tested it out, searching for books was quick! The app didn't use up too many system resources either—it didn’t slow down our PCs at all. We got our book matches fast without any hangs or crashes.

Some Limitations

However, it does have some downsides. For example, you can't choose which web browser to use for searches; it only works with Internet Explorer. Plus, two of the online services aren't available anymore. The interface could definitely use some upgrades too! But remember that Booksearch hasn’t been updated in quite a while.
