BoomShield

It is highly recommended that you go through the readme file before opening the application to avoid locking yourself out of your computer. If you did manage to get locked, then type killm and then press the Enter key to regain access to your computer.

BoomShield is a portable application designed for users who forget to lock or perhaps prefer a more hassle-free solution.

The program does not come with any interface and all you need to do to get started is double click it. The idea here is that the application locks access to the PC at the first mouse click or keystroke. As mentioned before, you need to type in the default key to unlock it again.

As you probably hinted, the app allows you to change the default key. You can switch to something more convenient for you, which works both for people who hate typing passwords as well as those who prefer to have a really long passkey to protect your data.

The program does not come with additional settings, other than some fun themes. Among the themes you can count Forcefield (the default), Glass, Blackscreen, Bluescreen, Fear (Hawk) and Fear (Psycho).

If you are working in an open office or perhaps keep your personal computer where your roommates or family members have access too, then you need to think about security. While one alternative would be to lock down your PC when you are away from the PC, it is understandable that you can get distracted and forget to do that at times.

While it may be slightly irritating at times, BoomShield does a very good job at locking your computer and hence, keeping your data safe from prying eyes or anyone wanting to access your PC.
