Braa is a handy tool for making SNMP queries. It can handle hundreds or even thousands of hosts at the same time, all while running in a single-threaded way. That's pretty cool, right?
The main thing you want to do with this tool is, of course, make SNMP queries. But here’s where it gets interesting: unlike snmpget or snmpwalk from net-snmp, Braa lets you query many hosts simultaneously—all in one go! This means it uses very few system resources and does its job super fast.
Braa brings its own snmp stack to the table, so there’s no need for any extra SNMP libraries like net-snmp. Now, I have to be honest: the implementation isn't all that clean and only supports a few data types. You can’t really call it 'standard-conforming.' But hey, it was built to be quick—and guess what? It is!
One thing to keep in mind is that Braa doesn’t come with an ASN.1 parser. So if you're going to use it, you’ll need to know the numerical values of your OIDs (like .1.3.6.1.2.1.1.5.0 instead of system.sysName.0). It might feel a bit tricky at first, but once you get the hang of it, you'll be zipping through those queries!
