Bubble is a very simple game in which you have to pop groups of identically colored bubbles and try to create large clusters, as these award the most points and make it possible to beat your high score.

The game’s mechanics are, or course, very straightforward. At the start of a round, you are presented with a random arrangement of pieces, and destroying a cluster causes the bubbles on top to drop down and fill the newly created space.

However, an optional game mode called ‘Megashift’ causes pieces to shift to the right as well, and inserts an additional set of bubbles when the leftmost column has been cleared.

There is no time limit, and you do not receive a bonus for completing the puzzle as quickly as possible. The real challenge is in planning your moves in advance so that you can form very large groups of bubbles, as the number of points you receive grows progressively with each additional piece.

For example, while popping three bubbles at once nets you a paltry six points, destroying six pieces awards you with a whopping thirty points. As a result, it is better to set things up so that very large clusters can be created, even if it means you will be left with more unpaired pieces at the end of the game.

Because of the way each new game is generated, beating your high score may become a matter of luck rather than skill. If, for instance, you get a very large number of green bubbles, it will be much easier to create a huge cluster and receive a disproportionately high number of points.

As a result, playing any game where the color proportions are close to equal becomes almost pointless, so it would help if these values could be customized.

Bubble is a relaxing game that can help you unwind and may just keep you glued to the monitor for hours on end. However, it would benefit from an improved or, at least, customizable level generation system.
