Focused on the events of the World War II, Call of Duty is a first person shooter game that enables you to experience historical battles from different points of view. The game has been published by Activition and is ported for Mac by Aspyr Media.

Within the Call of Duty game, you get to be a simple soldier or the trained member of a squad, but you can also change your nationality: American, British or Russian. In story mode you get to play 24 different missions that revolve around 4 historical campaigns.

The Call of Duty missions have different objectives: you must either rescue prisoners, sabotage different objectives, vehicle combat, conduct assault or stealth attacks and more.

The objectives of each mission will be displayed in the compass area and you need to accomplish them all to advance (you can save your progress at any time and start where you left off next time).

The interesting part is that the game is using authentic locations, weapons, vehicles and uniforms. You can carry around a handgun, a primary and a secondary weapon and up to ten grenades.

However, you can change your weapons with the ones found on the battlefield, dropped by other soldiers. You can make use of the machine guns mounted in different locations.

In some of your missions, you will be accompanied by computer controlled allies designed to offer you support: this way you get to experience the events as part of a group that spares no effort to defeat the enemy. Take into account and each time you get hit, your health bar drops until you eventually die.
