CartoMAP Viewer is a program you can use to open and view Cartographique Graphic (.cgf) and Microstation 2D (.dgn) GIS files, as well as to convert MapInfo (.mif) and ArcView Shape (.shp) data to .cgf files using Attribute Database items (.dbf).

The setup operation is quick and requires minimal attention, since there are no unfamiliar options, mandatory software products, or third-party offers involved.

By the look of the interface, CartoMAP Viewer hasn't been updated for a long time. However, it has a neatly structured layout with user-friendly options for users experienced with CAD tools. Several sample files are available in the installed directory to help you get started.

It's possible to use a search function to track down a particular object within the project, zoom in and out, pan the drawing, control layers, as well as to clear search results. The design can be printed or exported to bitmap format (.bmp) after specifying the image width and height.

When it comes to importing data from external files, you can point out the .mif or .shp input along with the .cgf output files, open .dbf files to index tables, as well as customize the visible properties (e.g. color, shape and size of points). Help documentation is available, while keyboard shortcuts are supported.

Although it hasn't been updated for a long time, CartoMAP Viewer worked smoothly on newer Windows editions in our tests, without hanging, crashing or indicating errors. We haven't come across any stability issues in our tests. It used a low amount of CPU and RAM, so it didn't hamper the computer's performance.

CartoMAP Viewer is a free application for analyzing GIS files and creating bitmap images.
