Casimir Force Calculator

As its name suggests, the Casimir Force Calculator is nothing but a small software utility ready to help you determine the value of the Casimir force measured in Newtons.

Generated by the quantum vacuum fluctuations of a field, the Casimir effect is a finite attractive force that occurs between two close and parallel uncharged conducting plates. Part of the quantum theory of electromagnetic radiation, the effect was discovered by the Dutch physicist Hendrik Casimir.

The application is as simple as it gets and, what is more, it does not require installation. The one-window interface comprises editable fields that allow you to customize the input values, as well as output fields where the results are displayed.

To determine the Casimir force, you must specify the separation between the two uncharged plates, in nanometers and fill in the elastic constant of the spring between the two plates, in Newtons/meter. The spring’s length is also an important parameter used in calculating the output values.

The Casimir Force Calculator does the math for you by applying the correct formulas and determines the Casimir force, in Newtons, as well as the compression of the spring, in nanometers.
