Clue Classic for Mac is a classic turn-based board game in which you play the detective and have to elucidate who killed Mr. Boddy, establishing the crime details like location, suspects and the instruments they used to commit the deed.
In the very first screens of interaction with the game, it actually looks and sounds good and may hype you into the belief that it it's a decent game. Despite the initial good atmosphere, soundtrack and catchy cutscenes, it quickly becomes monotonous and mundane. Sure enough, the tutorial tries to acquaint you with the play style, but it takes a while to get the hang of it and form strategies against the suspects and other agents.
Clue Classic is turn based, with AI adversaries trying to disapprove your suggestions. Before entering any room, you are asked to make a suggestion about who you think committed the crime and under what circumstances. The purpose is to find out, or deduce what 3 cards are located in the “Confidential” envelope, based on the other's card circulation, revealing, and ultimately elimination.
You can make accusations but if you are ill-founded the progress is reverted and a turn skipped, your character backtracks all the way to the beginning so that it prevents it from becoming a laid-back guessing game by spamming the accusation button.
Decently structured management of menus and game elements
A rich tab to the right encompasses the tools and evidence necessary to solve the case like cards, notebooks and history of overall activity, encompassing all the events happening, cards shown, accusations made and so on, as well as showcasing your name, character picture and badge. It's amusing though, because the other suspects' appearance might be identical to yours, and it confuses when accusing your own look-alike.
Options are pretty limited, in the sense that you can only modify the sound and music volume sliders and toggle fullscreen on and off.
Clue Classic isn't not state of the art, nor awe-inspiring. It can still prove to be fun and entertaining for a certain amount of time, provide it you try and give it a chance, or perhaps are a more curious and persistent player.
