Cryo is a semi-portable app that will facilitate data sharing, making it easier for you to instantly transfer or give access to certain files remotely. Its purpose is to offer a cloud-free type of service that is fast, easy-to-use, and helps keep privacy.
Given what you have read so far, it probably sounds too good to be true. What tool would allow free transfer and not require any kind of registration, sign up, payment, or even data collection? Cryo facilitates computers’ access with no middle server. The connection is thus established using Tor. To read more about the way Cryo uses and integrates Tor, click here.
Tor is an open-source, free program that enables Internet access worldwide, without traffic or network surveillance. Through successively encrypted data (and the IP address), it manages to keep users anonymous. The way Cryo supports file sharing is over a local network (computers that are connected to the same network) or via the Internet. Although Cryo uses Tor, the file transferring tool only supports privacy, not also anonymity.
After navigating your files, you can choose who you want to establish a connection with. Firstly, you will have to enable the sharing mode before trying to establish any kind of connectivity (either LAN or via the Internet). After entering the file-sharing mode, you can connect two devices via an invitation. This is a virtual form of introducing two devices to one another. The connection is established via a collection of public-private keys. You generate an invite and send the invitation and code access to the person you must to connect with.
After the receiver has plugged in the key and the code, and the connection was established, each one of you will start sharing files. You can freely navigate your partitions and folders and select the items you want to send. Cryo will allow for sharing a file in two different modes: in read-only, just for visualizing the content of the shared element, or the second mode, which is read and write: this will allow for editing (on the receiver side), altering, copy, deletion, etc.
Cryo is an amazingly complex tool that allows for fast, direct transfers. Not only is it able to simplify processes, but it is also free, has no limit on file-size, offers a high level of security due to its encryption protocols, and is above all, is decentralized — which makes it less prone to hacking and/or data corruption than traditional forms of data transferring.
