How to Install DDRescue-GUI

Installing from Source Package

If you choose the source package, things get a bit trickier. First, download the archive and save it somewhere on your computer. Then extract its contents and navigate to that folder.

You'll need to move several files around: copy DDRescue-GUI.py to /usr/share/ddrescue-gui/, ddrescue-gui.desktop to /usr/share/applications/, and so on for other files like images and scripts.

A Bit of History

The inspiration behind DDRescue-GUI comes from KDiskRescue, which isn't available anymore. But don't worry! This app works great on any desktop environment and runs smoothly on both GNU/Linux and Mac OS X.
