In an attempt to provide a tool for learning more about this phenomenon, Diffraction Grating Simulator will allow you to simulate it, by adjusting the corresponding values for its governing parameters.

The design of the application employs a very simple demeanor, and it will provide you with only the bare essentials in order to be able to set the parameters for performing the diffraction grating simulation.

To that end, you can adjust the wavelength, viewing angle, as well as slit separation values by either manually inputting the preferred values, for a more precise approach or, by relying on the on-screen sliders for setting them.

Regardless of the ease with which you will be able to adjust the values for the different parameters, as well as the good graphical preview for the resulting diffraction pattern, the application does come with some potential weaknesses.

For instance, once you’ve established a preferred set of values for the parameters, there is no way of exporting them, for subsequent, reiterative processes. The same goes for the resulting graphical simulation of the diffraction grating, and it would be really beneficial to see such features incorporated in future iterations of the app.
