Description
Dinosaurs first appeared during the Triassic period and became the dominant terrestrial vertebrates after the Triassic–Jurassic extinction event 201 million years ago; their dominance continued through the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods.
Mesozoic time frame is separated into three geologic periods as:
- Triassic (251.902 to 201.3 million years ago)
- Jurassic (201.3 to 145 million years ago)
- Cretaceous (145 to 66 million years ago)
