Diskegrator is a super handy software that helps you combine directory images and a bootloader into a bootable image. It's pretty cool because it can work with any block device, like hard disks, partitions, or even files using loopback. So if you're looking to create a bootable image, this tool has got your back!
Now, when it comes to installation, the steps can vary based on your Linux distribution. But don't worry! You can usually just copy the benegon directory into your /usr/lib/pythonXXX/site-packages
. Then, drop diskegrator somewhere in your path so that it's easy to access. Simple enough, right?
If you want to see how it works, there are some example scripts waiting for you in the examples directory. To run one of them, just type:
diskegrator config.py
This command will use a file called config.py
, which needs to define either one Array or three tuples in this format:
(Target, [Partitions], Bootloader)
If you're curious about how to set this up, check out the examples/build.py. It’s all laid out there for you!
