Doctus is a cool Latin teaching program designed for your Mac. Right now, it's all about drilling verbs. It covers all kinds of moods, tenses, conjugations, voices, persons, and numbers. This includes future and passive imperatives, which are pretty rare forms in the language, along with every infinitive and participle—except for irregular verbs.
One neat feature of Doctus is that it can quiz you on pronunciation! Just head over to the 'options' tab and turn on the pronunciation quizzing. Once you do that, you'll need to put a stress mark on the stressed syllable when prompted.
If you're wondering how to get those special marks while typing, it's simple! Just press the semicolon key for a macron (that's a vowel length mark) or use an apostrophe for an acute (which helps with syllable stress in pronunciation mode). You can also type macrons using whatever method works best for you. Just a heads up though: Doctus doesn't understand common substitutes like tildes or hats above letters.
The settings menu might look a bit tricky if you're just starting out with Latin. But don't worry! The default settings are usually what beginners learn first. For instance, when you see "indicative active," just remember it means "normal." So there's no need to panic when you're asked about an indicative active verb!
