eCITY is a simulation game developed with funding from the European Commission within the eCITY project that aims to develop a collaborative platform for solving engineering problems by applying Problem Based Learning techniques.
The eCITY game comes with 8 predefined scenarios designed to make the player deal with different engineering problems: energy distribution, renewable energies, ISP, mobile coverage, earthquake protection, flood protection, pollution, and efficient bus networks.
The game allows you to choose the difficulty level, which means that you might get either more time or more resources. Noteworthy is that you will not receive any indications once you start playing, so you must figure out on your own how to use each of the available building tools.
However, you can visit the eCITY website and watch a video tutorial that covers basic functions.
ECITY integrates a Sandbox mode where you get a clean map featuring different types of terrain. Use your imagination to develop a city that has an optimized structure from all points of view.
eCITY offers you the possibility to name your city, to choose the map size, and to set up an initial budget just to make things more interesting. This mode is great if you simply want to explore the game.
Within the eCITY universe you get to build homes for your citizens, while making sure they have access to all the commodities of modern life, such as energy, the internet, mobile communications, education, and so on.
The eCITY game is based on Problem Based Learning concepts and tries to help students acquire the skills necessary to find viable solutions to real and quite serious issues that surround the development of any city.
