EG Chess is a feature-rich chess game variant for the Mac OS X platform designed to deliver an immersive and colorful 3D gaming experience. You have the power to move the view angle and rotate the camera around the chess board.

This chess variant comes with both a 2D and 3D view of the chess board and the 3D environments are of 4 different types. The board displays colors for the last move and for capturing the opponent’s piece. When you need to make your move, a red dot displays the available options on the board, as well.

A great advantage of playing EG Chess is that it supports single player games and multi-player challenges against real opponents on the Internet. Local games also support playing against a friend at the same computer.

In an online game, you can communicate with other players through a chat system and view online leaderboards of the top players. What’s more, the lobby feature provides alerts when a move is made or when someone joins your game.

Other features include the ability to lock the view in 3D mode, export and import PNG images, changing the AI opponent difficulty level, undoing the last move and the integration of the official FIDE rating system.

In short, EG Chess is an inexpensive 3D chess game with support for both local and online games. Although the user interface is not spectacular, you can change the view angle and switch between the 3D and 2D.
