If you were to think about a mash-up between the old-school Age of Empires and the extremely popular The Walking Dead TV series, the result might resemble the following game: Empire Z.

Empire Z is an online RTS game that takes place after humanity has fallen into a great a zombie infected apocalypse in which you basically have to gather resources and defend a small city from zombie attacks or from other real players.

At the beginning of the game, your survival will depend heavily on finding large amounts of available resources, namely oil, food, lumber, metal and coin. With the resources, you will firstly need to develop your small community by building recruiting centers, farms, oil derricks, and upgrading your various defense structures.

Once you will evolve and you will have a strong enough army, you will be able to gather resources by invading and capturing other empires. By now, you should also know that the game is based on three kinds of missions, namely Empire, Daily, and Alliance missions.

The Empire missions enable you to build, upgrade and research your city, the Daily mission are developed so that you get some resources after having to wait for a while, but, by far the most interesting kind of mission are the Alliance missions.

This kind of Alliance missions are probably the most interesting aspect about the game itself, as players can unite their forces to defend against attackers, conquer other empires or share resources for the greater purpose.

Empire Z is a very interesting game that manages to successfully combine elements of basic RTS games and zombie movies, but really stands out with its online gameplay that’s purely based on human interaction and that, by itself, is what makes this game entertaining and addictive.
