EncFS MP

EncFS MP is a cool app that helps you create a safe space to keep your sensitive stuff, whether it's on your computer or a removable drive. With this software, you can easily create, mount, and edit encrypted file systems, making it super simple to manage as long as the app is running.

Create and Encrypt File Systems

Using EncFS MP, you can quickly set up and encrypt file systems with different methods or levels of encryption. You have three main choices: the standard option, paranoia mode, and expert mode. The first two are fixed options that don’t let you tweak them much.

Encryption Options

The software uses AES as its cipher algorithm with key sizes of 192 or 256 bits and a block size of 1024. In the Standard version, it takes about 500 ms for key derivation, while Paranoia mode offers a longer duration of 3000 ms. If you choose Expert mode, you can pick between AES or Blowfish algorithms and change other settings too. Plus, there are different name encoding options like Block, Null, or Stream.

User-Friendly Interface

One great thing about EncFS MP is how easy it is to use! The user-friendly interface makes it simple to create a new file system. Just give it a name, choose your encoding method, and select where you want to store the encrypted files by pointing to an empty directory. Don't forget to set up a master password – this will be your key to accessing everything! But remember: if you lose that password, there's no way to recover it.

Visibility and Access Control

If you check the “System visible” box in settings, other users will see the file system in your computer’s tree structure with its dedicated drive letter. Once you've created the file system, you can mount it anytime while EncFS MP is running.

Password Protection

Your access to the EncFS MP folder is locked behind that master password – so make sure it's memorable! You also need admin rights to mount the folder; sometimes this means restarting the application in admin mode. Once it's mounted though, just enter your password and you're free to open any files inside!
