Enemy Loss Monitor is a Windows gadget created for users interested in the casualties of the war between well-known Eastern European nations. In this case, there are two main camps, and the global public seems to have come to the conclusion that one side is the aggressor, and the other the aggressed. Who's right and who's wrong is a debate for another time. What is important to know is that the widget keeps track of all the aggressor's casualties, from mechanical assets to personnel and special equipment.

As with any other widget, you'll need an auxiliary tool like Windows Desktop Gadgets or 8GadgetPack to help you install it. Launch it to access a small list that uses symbols and numbers to display the total amount of casualties within a day. Indeed, within 24 hours, the application is updated with a new set of numbers — data supposedly sourced from the Ukrainian National Information Agency or UNIAN.

If you have issues understanding what the symbols are for, hover the cursor over them in order to make their tooltip pop up. Besides boots-on-the-ground personnel, the widget accounts for tanks, armored personnel vehicles, aircraft, UAVs, anti-aircraft systems, artillery, warships, vehicles, and special equipment.

For this forever-looking for something to customize, there are several tweaks that might change the gadget a bit. For example, one can turn on/off the UI's autoscale DPI, change the date or data format, or hide whatever category among the casualties.

Overall, Enemy Loss Monitor is an application that monitors, well, enemy casualties. While its functionality does not really extend beyond the idea of hope, it also starts with a finite service life, as all wars are eventually over. However, for a gadget, it could be considered useful.
