Enigma FOR MAC

Given the vast number of services that one gets to use on a daily base, and the fact that each account should have a different password as a security measure, using a password manager has become quite necessary.

Enigma is a small OS X application that takes a different approach to the matter: instead of storing all your credentials in a database, it helps you recreate the passkeys based on 3 fixed parameters.

Within the Enigma main window, you get to provide a name, a piece of personal information, and a master password. These parameters are crucial because you will not be able to recreate the passwords if you forget at least one of them

The next step is to specify the name of the target service for which you want to generate the password, and the password length (it can go from 4 to 20 characters). Enigma will seamlessly produce a password for the respective service, and you can place it on your clipboard for easy usage.

Whenever you need the passwords again, just provide the appropriate information, and Enigma will recreate the correct passkey. Note that there is no possibility to recover your passkeys if you don’t have the master password, the initial parameters, or the service name.

Optionally, via the Enigma File menu, you have the possibility to save a particular checkpoint, which means that the application will store the information in hashed state. When you input the correct credentials, Enigma will place and opened lock icon next to the master password field.

Enigma offers you the possibility to use complex passkeys for all your accounts without relying on a cloud server to sync the database to all your devices. As long as you have the app installed, you can recreate your passwords on any device, by simply providing the master information.
