Every computer or device is fitted with its own address, and depending on the provider configuration options, it can be static, or dynamic. Changing these values isn’t for everyone, but it doesn’t mean it’s a difficult process, especially if you rely on specialized applications like Ethernet.

One of the main advantages is that you don’t even have to go through a setup process to make the application work, thus allowing you to carry it around on a thumb drive to use on other computers as well. Moreover, registries remain intact, so you don’t have to worry about affecting the stability of the target PC.

The application comes in a lightweight package, and keeps the visual design with only the options you can handle. There’s not even a taskbar, or tray icon to keep any kind of space occupied, except for a compact main window fitted with a few dedicated requirement fields.

The core function is to enable you to change Ethernet settings, with requirement fields for IP Address, subnet, gateway, DNS 1, and DNS 2. Most fields are filled in with current values, but the IP field is roughly formatted, and the actual address is shown in the DNS 1 field.

Depending on your needs, you can have the IP either changed to static, or dynamic at the press of a button. The virtual keyboard can be brought up, which makes it suitable for terminals which are only fitted with a tough-supported screen.

In case the IP address changes automatically, you can hit the “Refresh” button to view the latest configuration, or if values you write down got applied. Sadly, the application needs to be used on each computer you want to change values on, with no option to target LAN computers.

To sum it up, Ethernet comes as a straightforward solution to quickly change the IP address, subnet, and DNS configurations on a target PC. Unfortunately, it needs to be used on every target computer, because of the lack of a built-in LAN scanner, but it only takes a little while to apply new changes, and portability provides the flexibility you need.
