What is eTorrent FOR MAC?

eTorrent

eTorrent is all about being scalable and sturdy when it comes to how many torrents you can handle. It's designed to let you use lots of torrents at once, but keep in mind that the speeds might be a bit slower than other similar apps out there.

Why Choose eTorrent?

One of the coolest things about eTorrent is that it's built mainly for unattended operation. This means you can kick back and just pick the files you want to download, and it takes care of the rest!

Getting Started with eTorrent

If you're ready to dive into using eTorrent, here's a quick guide:

  • First, check out Makefile.config for the right settings.

  • Then run 'make' to get everything set up.

  • Create a file called 'lib/etorrent-1.0/priv/etorrent.config'; there's an example file in that directory.

  • After that, just run 'make run' to start eTorrent in a running setup.

  • You can then drop a .torrent file into the watched directory and see what happens!

  • If you need help, just call etorrent:help() from the Erlang CLI to get a list of commands you can use.

BEP Protocols You Should Know

If you're into protocols, here are some important ones related to BitTorrent:

  • BEP 03 - BitTorrent Specification Protocol

  • BEP 04 - Number Allocations Protocol

  • BEP 05 - A protocol for working with DHT

  • BEP 10 - Extension Protocol

  • BEP 12 - Metadata Extension Protocol
