Eudora is a mail and news app brought to you by Qualcomm, and it’s built on the open-source Thunderbird client from Mozilla. But here’s the cool part: Eudora isn’t trying to outdo Thunderbird; instead, it’s designed to work alongside it!
Qualcomm has a solid plan to keep the Eudora user experience just how you like it while also making sure everything works smoothly with Thunderbird. Their goal? To create one big happy family of developers and users for both apps so they can grow and improve together!
So what makes Eudora special? Well, it's basically a branded version of Thunderbird but with some extra features that Eudora's developers have added in. Plus, there’s something called “Penelope.” It’s an extension (or add-on) that works in Eudora but can also be used with Thunderbird.
If you download Eudora here, you'll get Penelope included automatically! No need for a separate install. Most of Penelope's features will work just fine with Thunderbird, but a few need Eudora to function properly—so keep that in mind!
You might see some references that distinguish between older versions of Eudora made by Qualcomm and the newer ones based on Thunderbird. They usually call the older ones “original Eudora” or “Classic Eudora.” This helps avoid confusion when discussing different versions.
If you're looking for E-mail clients, you'll find Eudora is part of various download collections, which means you’ve got options!
