Data is anything contained within a file, and can even be as simple as text. However, a crowded PC makes it difficult to find and gather all info you need, especially if they’re stored all over your PC, and in different files. For instance, Extract Data and Text from Multiple Text and HTML Files lets you grab text from more files in the blink of an eye.
The name is pretty self-explanatory, but getting there might not be that easy. First off, the application’s main window feels a little too overwhelming for a simple text extraction process. However, you don’t depend on all of them, unless you want to create some rules, or don’t extract the whole content.
Sadly, files can’t be dropped over the main window, but there is the possibility to simply write down a source path, and have all files of a particular type imported at the press of a button. You can even look in subfolders, or use the general load dialog to manually select from more places.
Depending on your intentions, the application is capable of extracting only specific lines, which comes in handy if you’re targeting some programming code. Moreover, you can include or exclude specific lines which include one or more target phrases. In case you know what source files contain, the application can extract a portion of text found in between two words you specify.
By default, the application outputs content in a different file for every one in the source. Output is only TXT, which rather questions practicality since the source is the same. Luckily, you can have all extracted content piled up in a large file, with options to specify separators, and name.
Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Extract Data and Text from Multiple Text and HTML Files comes with good intentions, but you might have a bit of a hassle figuring out how to configure general rules. Supported file formats are rather disappointing, but it can save you some time because of batch processing.
