What is FairMount FOR MAC?

FairMount is a super simple app that helps you access and copy content from DVDs right on your Mac. It uses the videolan.org library to decrypt DVDs and creates a decrypted disc image. This makes it way faster for you to get at the files stored on your discs!

How FairMount Works

The magic behind FairMount comes from the libdvdcss library, which was made by videolan.org for the VLC media player. Before you start using FairMount, you need to install this DVD library first. Just a heads up, the link in the FairMount app to download it doesn’t work anymore (but no worries, FairMount will check if it's installed). You can grab a compiled version easily!

Important Notes

One thing to remember is that FairMount isn’t being updated anymore. Even though you can still find the binary and source code since it's open source, any problems you run into will be up to you to fix.

Using FairMount is really straightforward! The app automatically finds any DVD you've mounted and swaps it out with a decrypted image. This lets you browse all the disc content using Finder, just like you're looking at an external drive.
