Find A Word is a fun word game that's perfect for anyone who loves a challenge! You get five turns to play, and each turn can last either 30, 60, or 90 seconds—totally up to you! Plus, there's a countdown timer so you can see how much time you have left.

How to Play Find A Word

When you hit the "Start Game" button, you'll see three vowels and five consonants pop up in the Letter Pot field. Your mission? Create as many words as possible using those letters.

Entering Your Words

Type in your word and click the "Enter" button or just press the Return key. To score points, your word must be made from the letters in the Letter Pot. It also needs to be in the Find A Word dictionary (no proper names, abbreviations, or contractions allowed) and has to be unique for that turn.

Game Mechanics

If you're feeling eager and want to keep going instead of waiting for your time to end, just click on the "Start Turn" button! Don’t forget that if you want to wrap things up early, hitting the "End Game" button will clear all your words and scores. For every word you make, you earn ten points plus one point for each letter in that word!

Bonus Points

If you're quick on your feet and find 30 words before time runs out, you'll get an extra 200 bonus points along with some time bonuses based on how much time is left (1/10/100 points per unused second depending on whether it’s a 90/60/30-second turn).

Your Score Matters!

At the end of all five turns, your total score goes head-to-head with the top ten scores. If you're among the best players, your name along with your score will show up on the High Scores table!

Edit Your Scores

You can check out your High Scores anytime from the menu bar. Want to change a name? Just double-click it in that window, type in something new, and hit "Enter." Easy peasy!

The Dictionary

The Find A Word dictionary is pretty impressive too—it has over 80,000 words! You can tweak this dictionary using the Word Maintenance window found in the menu bar. When you first launch Find A Word, it saves a default dictionary on your hard drive.

Your Changes Are Saved!

No worries about losing any changes; they save automatically! The next time you play, it loads up your revised dictionary right away. If at any point you want to go back to default settings, just hit "Use Default Word Set," but watch out—it'll overwrite everything you've changed!

Improve Your Skills

If you're looking to level up your game skills, there's an option under Help where you can find words from your Letter Pot letters. You can also toggle sound options whenever you'd like.
