Fluid is a handy little app for Mac that helps you turn your favorite websites into desktop clients. This way, your web browser won’t get all cluttered up and slow down. It’s super easy to use, so you won’t have to mess with complicated tools or settings.
Getting started with Fluid is a breeze! Just open the app and enter the website URL you want. Then, you set a name for your client, choose where to save it, and pick an icon (you can use the website’s favicon or any image you like).
Once everything's ready, hit that “Create” button in the bottom right corner of the window. After a short wait, Fluid will let you know when it’s done. You'll see a prompt that says everything went well, along with buttons that say “Reveal in Finder” and “Launch Now.”
The new Fluid apps show the website in a clean window that looks like your usual web browser but without all those toolbars getting in the way. By default, all toolbars are off, but if you want them back, you can enable status bars, bookmarks, and navigation buttons easily.
When you make a new Fluid desktop client, it creates a whitelist for the domain of that site. If you try to visit other pages not on this list, they’ll automatically open in your default browser instead. But no worries! You can change this setting in the Preferences window by adding more entries or selecting “Allow browsing to any URL.”
If there are websites you check often but want to keep your main browser tidy, then Fluid is perfect for you! Plus, it lets you use Userscripts or Userstyles so that you can tweak how things look and work to fit what you need.
If you're ready to give Fluid a try and simplify your browsing experience while keeping things organized!
