Pointing out a ZIP file for conversion is done using the file browser only, since the drag-and-drop method is not supported. All you have to do is pick an output directory and compression method between store, normal and best, depending on how much time you're willing to spend to get the smallest RAR file size possible.

Conversion starts with the click of a button. The output file will automatically receive the same name as the source, while existing files will be overwritten.

The app carries out a task rapidly while using low system resources, so it does not hog CPU and RAM. It pops up a WinRAR compression dialog during this time. However, it does not require the program to perform the conversion (we tested it after uninstalling WinRAR). The resulted ZIP was intact.

Although it is not particularly feature-rich (batch processing is not supported, for example), Free Zip to Rar Converter delivers a very simple solution for converting RAR files into ZIP, which is a more accessible format supported by many decompression utilities.
