Freeboxtv is a handy package that helps you use VLC with FreeboxTV. It makes streaming easier and more fun! Let’s break down how to install and use it, so you can enjoy your favorite channels in no time.
To get started, you’ll want to install freeboxtv. It’s super simple! Just open your terminal and type:
sudo easy_install -U freeboxtv
If you’re using an older version of VLC, it might need a little extra help to read .m3u files. In that case, create a file named .freeboxtv
in your $HOME directory and add this:
[default]
options = --m3u-extvlcopt
If things aren’t working right, don’t worry! You can run the following command to check for errors:
fbxtv -d
If you still have issues, send the error details to gael@gawel.org.
You can easily get a list of available channels by typing:
fbxtv -l
If you want to launch the full playlist, just type:
fbxtv
To launch a specific channel, use the command below. Just replace <channel_id|channel_name>
:
fbxtv < channel_id|channel_name >
For example:
fbxtv nova # launches radio nova
fbxtv france 2 # launches France 2
When you're finished watching, close VLC easily by entering:
fbxtv -s
