Gamin

Gamin is a cool tool that helps you keep an eye on files and directories. Think of it as a watchdog that alerts you when something changes in your files or folders. It’s part of the FAM (File Alteration Monitor) system but with some neat tweaks!

Main Goals of Gamin

Testing with Inotify

A Bit of History

Gamin actually comes from a previous project called marmot, created by James Willcox and Corey Bowers. They've made some significant changes to turn it into a lightweight replacement for FAM. And hey, if you know French, you'll get a kick out of how 'gamin' relates back to 'fam' and 'marmot'!
