Garmin nRoute is a discontinued application that was developed to help you enable and enjoy the benefits of auto-routing on your laptop, but only if you have a supported Garmin GPS device connected to it.

Like MapSource, nRoute provides support for various stuff like tracks, waypoints, addresses, points of interest and routes, but its main purpose is to be used for realtime navigation and tracking.

This application comes with compatibility for various Garmin GPS devices, but it requires a City Select product that is unlocked to a certain Garmin GPS so that it can enable automatic routing mode with voice assistance.

Since you need to have MapSource on your computer in order to use Garmin nRoute, many users won't experience any difficulty in understanding and operating the program, especially if they have a bit of experience with the other app.

Unfortunately, the app won't be able to enable auto-routing except for City Select or City Navigator products that have been unlocked beforehand and a GPS unit that has been unlocked to those products. It is also advised to configure Garmin nRoute before you start driving, since its controls can be hard to operate while driving.
