GIANT AntiSpyware

GIANT AntiSpyware is, just like its name suggests, an antispyware solution with real-time protection and a user-friendly interface to help you take full advantage of its great features.

Unfortunately, GIANT AntiSpyware is no longer updated, so although it comes with a dedicated auto-update tool, you are not going to be able to get the latest virus definitions.

However, the application bundles several great features, including a fully configurable scanning process. For instance, you can initiate a so-called “Intelligent quick scan” that takes just a few minutes while also checking the cookies stored on your computer or you can run full system one which scans directories, files, cookies and memory. It is important to keep in mind that the latter might take a while longer than the previous one.

The built-in real-time protection feature relies on what the developer calls “agents,” with three such items deployed by the application. While the “Internet Agents” take care of your computer and protects it against threats found online, the “System Agents” defend your system from malicious attempts to change security permissions or other settings.

Last but not least, the “Application Agents” blocks any software solution that may modify system settings or the installed apps.

As a bonus, this utility also boasts five other tools to explore and secure the computer, but also to enhance the privacy level. To be more precise, you can take advantage of “System Explorers,” “System Inoculation,” “Browser Hijack Restore,” “Tracks Eraser,” and “Secure File Shredder,” all of which come with self-explanatory names and are accessible via the menu bar.

GIANT AntiSpyware is a pretty decent piece of software, yet its lack of definition updates is more than a setback, as in most cases, these are the main tools that make the difference between a clean and an infected computer. The computer’s performance is not going to be burdened, the response time is good and the interface is quite intuitive.
