Gin - Rummy

Gin - Rummy is a fun two-player card game where your main goal is to pick up and discard cards. You want to make as many melds as you can while getting rid of those pesky ‘deadwood’ cards that don’t help your hand at all.

Gameplay Overview

This version of Gin - Rummy doesn’t have a multiplayer mode, but it does offer three different difficulty levels. So whether you're a newbie or an experienced player, the AI provides a good challenge!

Getting Started with Gin Rummy

If you’re new to gin rummy, no worries! The game has in-game instructions that will walk you through the basics. The rules are pretty straightforward, but figuring out more complex strategies might take some time and practice.

Your Turn in the Game

At the beginning of each round, both players get ten cards. On your turn, you'll pick up one card from either the discarded pile or the deck and then drop one card from your hand. It’s all about making those perfect moves!

Melds and Deadwood Cards

Melds are formed when you group three or more cards of the same rank or create runs of three or more cards in sequence. Keep in mind that deadwood cards don't fit into any groups, so it's best to get rid of them quickly!

The Knocking Mechanic

Once you've grouped enough cards, you can choose to ‘knock’. If your deadwood cards are worth less than your opponent's, you'll score points based on the difference! But watch out—if you're not careful and have higher deadwood values, you'll lose points instead.

Going for Gin!

If you're lucky enough to have all your cards fit into melds, you can declare Gin! This nets you some bonus points. There's even something called Big Gin: if all ten of your current cards plus one just picked up form melds—how cool is that?
