GitHub Notifier

If you want to keep up with your favorite GitHub repository update and interactions without even visiting the pages, GitHub Notifier can help. Use this program to keep an eye on the latest activity of repositories of your choosing. Do this from the confines of your desktop, and even receive change notifications in real-time.

Personal access tokens are handy in API authentication routines, but they can also be used to link a repository with GitHub Notifier. Each new token creates an entry in the app's UI. The token must be permitted the alerts and notifications you’ll receive about the repo's activity. Add a specific environment variable with the key GitHubNotifier_Token and run the app.

GitHub Notifier sports four categories that cover the repositories, notifications, useful forks, and Git Operations. From all these tabs, the Repositories represent the core of the app. This area lets you add your token-based entries and have them displayed along with their star rating, a download counter, open issues, view, and clones.

The program rechecks the repo's each 15 minutes, by default, but you can change this interval freely. A manual check button is also attached to each entry, in case you wish to act upon specific items.

Open the Settings menu to access some repository-related tweaks. Change the name of the entries and decide what properties should be shown and what hidden. For example, if you are not interested in the star rating or view count, you can easily hide them.

GitHub Notifier can be a decent repository watcher if the user knows their way around GitHub and the mechanism the site provides. Monitor repositories from a neatly crafted UI that shows you everything from downloads, views, or user scores. Tailor the results according to your taste, and receive alerts embedded into the OS notification tree.
