Office work usually involves handling large quantities of data, be them numerical, text, or combined. Existing office suites usually come with the right tools to help in this regard, but you might not need the abundance of overwhelming features to do your job. For instance, GoenSheet makes it possible to create spreadsheets with little effort or complications.
Setup takes incredibly little time, letting you take it for a spin shortly after. Note, however, that it completely relies on Java Runtime Environment to function, so you need to make sure it’s installed on your computer. With the window up, you can go ahead and customize data cells according to your needs, without any other options to manage to be able to edit the spreadsheet.
One side of the work window is a dedicated navigation panel, making it quite easy to browse through your project files. The rest of the window represents the common spreadsheet layout, which you can start modifying on the spot. There are also various file and text related options in the upper toolbar.
Sadly, file support leaves much to be desired, because you’re not able to work with anything else other than the application’s own format. When it comes to saving, however, you do have the possibility to export the spreadsheet as a CSV file. Cell management doesn’t really exist, apart from setting the size, with no options to merge multiple cells together.
Customization isn’t really abundant, and is mostly related to text, in the sense that you can change font type, make characters bold, italic, or normal. Probably the biggest impact on practicality is the lack of support for functions, thus restricting you to use it in order to perform even simple, automated calculus of values, let alone cells.
All things considered, we can state that GoenSheet is a rather simplistic spreadsheet editor, mostly for creating an organized table of items and exporting it as CSV. Mathematical functions are not supported, while cell management leaves much to be desired along with file support.
