So, you've probably heard of GOG Galaxy, right? It’s that cool, DRM-free game distribution platform and launcher that's a nice alternative to Steam, Origin, Uplay, and Epic. Well, guess what? The much-anticipated 2.0 version is finally out of Closed Beta! This could really change how you manage and play all your games, not just the ones from GOG.
\n\nWith GOG Galaxy 2.0, you can bring together all your games and friends from different platforms into one place! It makes it super easy to launch and organize everything. Plus, it can track your playtime and achievements across all supported platforms. Pretty neat, huh?
\n\nIf you weren’t a huge fan of GOG Galaxy before, your game library might look a bit small after installing the client for the first time. But don't worry! Importing your games from Steam, Origin, or other platforms is super easy. Just log into each one and let GOG do its thing!
\n\nYou’ll still run your games through their usual platforms, but you can launch them directly from GOG Galaxy. This way, you can see and organize everything in one interface—making it way simpler to keep track of all your titles.
\n\nThe app tracks total playtime for all your games too! And don’t stress about missing achievements; if you start a game through GOG, they’ll count just like normal.
\n\nA big issue with having multiple game launchers is that your friends are spread out across different lists. But with GOG Galaxy 2.0, you can see who’s online on any platform—and soon enough you'll be able to chat with them as well!
\n\nYou have plenty of tools to keep things tidy in your library! You can tag games (and even import tags from other platforms). You also get to change each game's info like title image or background; it's nice that you can make the library feel more personal.
\n\nYou can switch between different viewing modes too! Decide what info shows up for each title and sort or group them however you'd like.
\n\nIf you've been part of the Closed Beta testing before, you know GOG Galaxy has improved quite a lot lately—but there's still more work ahead. Some features are still missing and bugs pop up now and then.
\n\nThe app aims to unify all your games into one library regardless of where you bought them or where you play them. It supports most popular platforms too! Even though it needs some fine-tuning still, having a launcher that brings everything together is going to be super helpful as new distribution platforms keep popping up everywhere.
