Good Diary

A lot can happen in one day, and chances are you don’t want to forget these events too soon. The practice of recording daily activities is done through a diary, which is a pretty personal type of document. In case you get to spend a lot of time on a computer, Good Diary is here to help save all your ideas in an organized environment.

For the application to properly function, you need to make sure that .NET Framework is installed on your PC. Running it brings up the main window, but not before you create a new user, so only you have access to the diary. Creating a new user only requires you to specify a name and password.

The main window is fitted with a couple of tabs to help you edit, and view diary entries. You’re taken directly to the editor, and you can start writing right away. With a title written down, content can also be pasted from clipboard. Sadly, there are no customization options whatsoever, and you only get to write plain text.

Hitting the “save” button in the editor adds your diary entry to the database. It can be viewed in the second tab. Here, a small list shows all entries by title. Date is revealed on selection, and so is content. With no filter, or search option, identifying entries in a crowded database can become frustrating.

In case you’re not happy with the current user, there’s the possibility to change both the login name, and password. However, there can only be one active account per Windows user. What’s more, all text remains inside the application, with no built-in export option other than copying text, and pasting it in a different editor.

Bottom line is that Good Diary helps you keep all your daily ideas, and activities stored in a secure, simple database. Unfortunately, it feels rough around the edges, with no search function to find items on the long run, or calendar to get a better view of all diary entries according to day.
