We’ve all played city-building games before, and constructing a massive metropolis is not too difficult, but things would be different if we were to take into account the often ignored ecological factor.

That is the basic premise of Green City 2, a time management game that puts an emphasis on eco-friendliness, while having you complete a series of timed challenges.

While this may sound overly dramatic, the situation in Bigrock appears to be very serious indeed. Abandoned houses, old buildings in dire need or repairs and an unacceptable lack of greenery.

But, of course, that is why the city’s populace has requested your help. You will need to complete a series of challenges, making sure to balance out your income with the neighborhood’s overall environmental footprint.

You can construct houses of various sizes, ecological, commercial and energy-generating buildings. Any new constructions will, of course, have a negative environmental effect, which needs to be negated through upgrades and green areas.

Each level is timed, and extra points are awarded if you manage to complete the challenge as quickly as possible.

The included tutorials do a good job of explaining the game’s mechanics, so you should have no problem figuring out the basics. Getting good enough to earn an achievement, however, is going to require some practice.

Visually, Green City 2 does not stand out, but the modest graphics help to keep system requirements low while still providing a pleasing experience.

The music being played in the background lacks variety, but is fairly relaxing and does not become tiring after prolonged sessions.

Overall, Green City 2 is a relatively straightforward game that can provide you with a few hours of entertainment, as you attempt to complete challenge after challenge in as little time as possible.
